BBC news - £4m economic cost of Defender theft
According to a table in this story, Defender thefts in ‘16 and ‘17 cost the U.K. economy £4m. That’ll include things like police time, lost productivity by the owner etc. Pretty big for a car that was out of production for practically all of that period. Mad

United Kingdom 2001 Defender 90 Td5 HT Oslo Blue
That seems a low figure. If a Defender was, say on average £20k (given current pricing) then that would only be 200 vehicles.

I'd expect the figure to be at least 10x - 20x that...?

I guess that figure doesn't include the cost of the vehicles being stolen..?

cheers

Those figures were produced by the NFU and are based on the NFU claims. What percentage of Defenders does the NFU insure?

So in those immortal words “fake news”
