When a good friend of mine fitted my ARB locker to my old salisbury axle, we used a HUGE G clamp he had... fitted over the whole axle.

It only needed compressing by a mm or so, just enough to loosen the diff (although when they're "worn" in, the diff usually just pulls out once you've removed the main bearing caps)

I've got a late 300 tdi 110 I'm breaking due to rotten chassis, it drives so if you haven't sorted one I could have a spin round the estate and check it's ok.

There's a late 110 rear axle appeared on eBay this morning from seller 'lrdlife', for £500 plus postage. I can't post the link from work but I'm sure it'll be easy to find. I've no connection with the seller but have bought some significant other stuff from him in the past and he's a good guy. Darren

Note if you go for a non Salisbury you'll need a new propshaft as well and different brake discs as they're different lengths and widths respectively. Ed

And to think I chucked a Salisbury axle out because I couldn't even give it away.

1997 Defender 110 300 Tdi CSW Epsom Green

I've managed to get a hold of a later model 110 axle, so now I'll have to try and sell my knackered Salisbury axle, it would be a shame to bin it, there are less and less on the road.
