Defender body shell travelling on M1

Anyone know anything about this ‘defender’. Spotted on the M1 southbound around Nottingham this afternoon. Sorry about the picture but this thing must be well known. Fully independent suspension, you can see the cowl on the roof of the pick up cab, feeding the fan mounted in the window.

I tried to accelerate to get a better picture but I couldn’t keep up. Interior seemed spartan. Big bucket seats and a roll cage that ran up the windscreen inside with spars with holes cut out.

And those big flappy mud flaps held back with wire. Wheels completely filled the arches too!

I put the word defender in inverted commas as I reckon the only thing defender about it was the body work. 2002 110 td5

I don't know that one specifically, but it's probably a 'race' machine built on the underpinnings of something like a RR Sport with a Defender body bolted on top. There are a couple of companies that build this sort of stuff. I think Bowler do, or at least did. Darren
