seriously now, if I take my bike with my bike as a means of commuting can anyone suggest somewhere safe within say a 5 or 6 mile radius or do I need to extend that to say 50 miles to be safe Laughing

back to Swansea. Staying at Neath this time and I have a couple of questions;

-can anyone confirm if there's anywhere safe to leave motor?

-mumbles - there's somewhere for launching boats - reckon I can just drive onto beach and set up picnic?

Thumbs Up

The slipway at Mumbles is I think controlled by the yacht club. Boats are only really launched by vehicles at high tide off the concrete slipway itself, not by driving onto the beach at lower tide. Driving on the beach is a big no-no, not least because you will stick out like a sore thumb as 'the k**b with a 4x4 on the beach' amongst all the kids and dogs playing... Whistle

Can't help with safe overnight parking at either Swansea or Neath sorry, although it should be safe during the day, especially in the Mumbles where it's not unusual to see the footballers parking their supercars in amongst a brace of Rangie's, Tesla's and Audi's. Plenty of Defender's there too.

Thumbs Up

If you're camping try bank farm in Horton about 5 minutes from Oxwich Bay. There is a slip for launching boats so you can get onto the beach. I have done in the past with no problems.

accommodation wise we're sorted thanks.

using the slip way do you think it's possible to drive along towards Tor Bay and 3 Cliffs Bay and 'pitch' up for the day / picnic.
what I'm thinking is further I can get from the slip way the quieter it'll be.
I'm a complete novice but I'm thinking it should be completely viable from looking at google maps which granted doesn't tell the full story.
I'm not looking to race along and wipe out any families by racing down the beach Mr. Green

what do you think?

You would be a very brave man to drive your defender on a beach that you don’t know the tides, the sand conditions, the soft spots etc. My advice would be don’t do it. 2015 HT XS 90

I wouldn't drive all the way down to 3 cliffs as the sand is very soft and you might get caught out. The car park there is fairly safe with the car park attendant usually sat reading a book. It's a nice walk along there anyway. As you say the further away you get the quieter it is. Thumbs Up
