I was able to shut and open the valve manually under the bonnet and the action off the hot/cold knob 'seemed' to operate it ok. (there was a springy feeling to the knob at the hot setting) Well....I was about to take the facia off to have a look behind to see if there was anything there to adjust etc and after taking out two screws I thought I would just have a final look under the bonnet at the valve before getting involved at that end.
There is no adjustment to the inner cable at that (valve) end so had a look at the outer cable clamp...looked ok but slackened it and I was able to move it towards the valve and re-tighten it. Hey presto...now works!
Point is surely the travel/adjustment on the cable should be on the inner cable? As in the old days when a drilled bolt and screw secured the end of any control cable. The outer cable merely being 'routing' for the inner?
When this was done I put a zip tie very tightly on the outer cable so it can't slip through the clamp, which is just a spring clip.
Just quite happy that £104 saved....for now anyway!
