I tried to knock them down, but they have already dropped 1k, I have put my deposit on it already.
I am going back Monday with a chap I know through metal detecting, he owns 2 defenders and is coming with me to give it the once over. here's the link http://www.allensvans.co.uk/used-results/l...fender-110 |

Underneath doesn't look to bad, wire brush and waxyoyl asap will give it a new lease of life.
Has not been detailed which is a pity as its on the forecourt ![]() If they have dropped £1k already it means it hasn't sold for a while therefore i would go back and try £16k. The extra money could be put towards the underside clean up. When was the clutch changed / has it been changed. Some of the guys on here might be able to comment on clutch longevity. I had one at about 25k but it is remapped. Think my case was a faulty dual mass flywheel. Been fine since changing clutch and flywheel. 76k is not bad if it has a good service history. Other than that looks great for its age and some nice extras, bet you can't wait ![]() |

Based on what you said about the first one you drove this one is in a different league.
As others have said, check the MOT history on DVLA website to see if mileage is gen & get an idea of what's been done to it in the past. Also ask to see service paperwork not just a stamped book... A full HPI check is also well worth the £20 it costs as it will throw up how many owners, insuranxe write off, etc. - all done online & starting with the reg number but more details if you have VIN no. Looks like the winch has seem some action so give everything the once over underneath as it's very probably been off roadbed - not a bad thing as long as it's been looked after accordingly. It has certainly got a few mods on it so I suggest that you check with your insurers as things like the winch bumper, 2" tow hitch & roof rack are a no no for most of the household names. bump stops are non standard so guessing it has poly ushers as well, insurers need to know all these things so might be worth taking a pen & paper with you. Looks like a good truck, although I am clearly out of touch with the market value as that seems a lot of money for a 14 year old 110 ![]() |

Tax is wrong too should be £230.00 p.a
Prices are high for the TD5s my 110 XS bog standard 1 owner 90k FSH was £12k 2 years ago. Since then ive not found one even close for less than £17k so this is about right. Check the fuel filter housing they can corrode and often missed (drivers side rear wheel arch). Ive found TD5 clutches are a fickle thing my 90 went through two and one DMF in 20k miles which was mildly mapped and only did maybe 5k per yet my 110 is heavily mapped and on 105k driven daily and is fine. |

Thanks for the info all.
As mentioned, I have a buddy coming with me to check it over, he owns a 300tdi & 200tdi, so knows a great deal more than me. |

There are a few things that are TD5 specific to look for which could be potential issues down the line or cost you money if you don't pick up on them before sale.
Few 110 TD5 specific things I would check are Oil in the red plug in the ECU (under drivers seat) Fuel Filter housing corrosion (under drivers side rear wheel arch) Check the A/C works properly - I forgot to do so and needs repair, which I havnt gotten around to yet Pull the carpet up where the rear seats mount to the seatbox, its a big area of corrosion, mine was utterly rotten |

How odd! My 02 90 CSW was £280 per year! The 04/05s are £230 and 06/07 are £500+

Can you not buy a newer Puma for that sort of money?
I think the other one was well priced because of the Galvanised Chassis. That’s a nice spec truck, but it does have a lot of scorpion racing aftermarket bits on it. 2006 is the year they went tax mad hence why you always see 06 models for cheaper than others like disco 3’s and Double cabs etc |

I reckon you could get a base spec Tdci CSW for that money. I think Td5 chassis’s were made out of recycled bean cans, thoroughly check the Chassis, especially where the two holes in the side rails are in front of the rear crossmember real mud trap.
It’s a COUNTY station wagon not Country ![]() ![]() |
