My TD5 once again seems to have air in the fuel system which is making it splutter when starting from cold. Strangely it seemed since i last did the injector seals in March and is only since changing the fuel filter a few weeks ago. No signs of a leak though!
The injector that is in No.3 cylinder has a fault with the rings on the washer sealing face of the injector. Previously the washer has held for 12-18 months before needing replacement. This time is seems to have potentially given up early. Therefore, i think i need to change the no.3 injector. Am i better to try and source a set of injectors from an unknown donor vehicle so all injectors have done a similar mileage? Can they be refurbished at all? I know i will need to track someone down with nanocom to reprogram them whether i change one or 5. The injectors can be refurbed but I found it cost nearly as much as buying new ones from britcar (which are genuine ones) so I ended up just getting a new set from them. Ray

Cheers, so the question really then is: Can i swap out just my one damaged injector and leave the 4 remaining ones in which have done ~125k?
Sadly I cant afford the £1250 for a full new set! Cheers Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |

Cheers. The issue is with the actual metal around the base of the injector. Normally they have two concentric raised rings which crush into the washer. My faulty one has a large section of the inner ring totally missing and a small fault in the outer ring. Not sure how this has happened but has been like it since the first time i did the seals. Almost looks like porosity in the material although i doubt this would have been missed by Delphi's QA from new.
The mating face of the injector and the recess in the head were spotless when i reinstalled them previously. Thanks for the suggestion though! Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |

if you do wire wheel them do not wire wheel the tip as this can damage the holes then it will need new nozzles.

Any other thoughts on me replacing just 1 injector (thus 4 will have done 125k) before i pull the trigger on a new one?
Thanks in advance, Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |
