Aligning a door
This has probably been covered but I could not find it in any searches.

One of the last things to do on my Defender is to adjust the drivers door to fit correctly. Before I purchased the defender the last owner had the drivers door replaced, so I now have a nice rust free door but is does not fit too well. I can lift it up on the hinges by about 5mm homefully to sort the height but the bottom of the door fits correctly onto the seals (catch side) but the top of the door (catch side) is about 7mm to 10mm to far away from the seals. There are some shims on the top hinge door side which I can take off but I don’t think that will bring it in enough and will screw up the position next to the hinge. Somebody told me that I need to adjust the window section ( bend it) into place but did not tell me how, just something involving wood!

Is this right and how do I do it without screwing up the door or breaking the glass?

It's just as likely to be the body that's out of alignment rather than the door.
