It looks like the corrosion is starting from the inner edges of the spokes. Sharp edges are notoriously difficult to paint/seal due to poor adhesion on the corners. This is not helped by the effects of road salt, cleaning chemicals and brake dust.

Yes it appears it's starting from the inner edges of the spokes and I take your points but as the wheels are powder coated I don’t think you get quite the same issues with poor edges adhesion as paint. I believe this is a little more of a basic issue of not applying enough powder coating in these areas |

All edges should have radii, otherwise the Paint or Powder Coating will be reduced in thickness on the edge, resulting in Filiform corrosion -

Def 90. As Norman D has pointed out edges should preferably be radiused. Any sharp points or tips on the corners can penetrate through the coating and be the starting point for corrosion. It's certainly worth taking up with Bowler as they do charge a premium price for their wheels. Defender 90XS SW

Don’t know how old your wheels are, but I’d contact Bowler anyways first. Can’t be normal.

I doubt Bowler will accommodate.
Salted roads absolutely fudges everything. ideally you need to be vigorously hosing off everywhere after every trip... We all know that never happens. I left the 90 in the garage for 2 weeks after a salted road run and the damage was shocking. My fault, lack of care. |

All my wheels have a lot of balance weights on them, suppose it’s because I have BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO2 tyres but never had any issues with vibration. |

Looks like Bowler are trading on their reputation and charging premium prices for wheels that clearly aren't.
Having said that, there is the issue of how old they are. I've never had a set of LR wheels not show those signs of corrosion, but that has been after more than 4 years or so. Maybe Bowler will do the right thing and refurb at their cost? |

Hi
I have been in correspondence with Bowler and after three day they came back with this, I presume they discussed it with Rimstock. The reply included a response form Rimstock which was in the form of a corporate P off, by just attaching a copy of their Aftermarket warranty Statement, which is 12 months original customer only. Bowler were more apologetic and went on to say they offer three years from date of purchase, in line with OEM corrosion warranty, I presume this is also original customer only. My wheels are just over three years old, not had a lot of use and have been well looked after but as such are out of warranty! Click image to enlarge Bowler did go on an offer to refurbish my wheels at their cost price of £225 + VAT plus shipping. So if you have a set of Bowler wheels check them for corrosion before the three years are up and contact Bowler ASAP if you have a problem. Not sure what Bowler will do as Rimstock clearly have no interest in dealing with an issue which appears to relate to their manufacturing standards after 12 months. info@bowlermotorsport.com |

Ill double check mine but as far I can tell they are in good nick and dont have sharp edges on the back. I got mone 18 months ago, maybe they chanaged the design slightly. Instagram @defender_ventures

I'm guessing they might actually send them back to Rimstock, who have a large business refurbishing alloy wheels - can you see the business model in making wheels with just a 12 month warranty?
For a 18" wheel basic refurbishment is £87.50 inc.VAT, price per wheel, so £350 inc VAT for a set of 4. It looks like Bowler may get a discount on this of 22.86% with the price you have quoted from them. Is there anything intrinsically "Bowler"about the wheels? Are they forged? There's a distinct lack of info on the Bowler website about them. |

Bowler is no longer the Bowler we all knew?
Richard Haywood now owns them and he has basically shunned the Family. He owns Bowler Motorsport, Bowler Brands and Bowler Manufacturing. 130's have feeling's as well you know |
