Staffordshire/Cheshire/Derbyshire area laning trips....
Hi, I'm wandering if anyone local to above area's want to do some steady green lanes...
After years of 'SERIOUS' off roading.. see my picasaweb link... www.picasaweb.google.co.uk/letsoffroad I'm now taking it steady in my 'nice' TD5 !!

Although I can put together some demon green lanes in nice scenic loops, taking in nice pub or picnic stops.. I recently took a friend in a 20 inch alloyed Disco 3 and he 'only' sustained a single scratch Wink

I'm pretty new to D2.net, but a veteran of all things with a green oval !!!!

Just putting 'feeler's out for now...
By the way, I won't be charging anyone to follow me around roads and lanes we already pay tax for Shocked

I love the lanes in the peaks, you just have to be 100% certain that whats shown on the map as a BOAT or UCR etc is open as a lot aren't. The rangers there are fierce too, one transgression and you're on notice, two and you're absolutely stuff and its goodbye 90.

Good shout Mike. A lot of lanes are now closed around there, that used to be cracking lanes.
As much research as poss is usually done beforehand, though driving them for years, it's usually the very challenging lanes that get the snip...Chapel Gate for one, though Roych Clough is a stunner !
I followed a Dutch leaf spring club convoy up there, I was in my (ex Cobley) Ibex and they had loads more fun getting up there than I had.... All the toys make lanes dull...except for driving the lanes that are now closed.....Hence a standard 90 now (and I work in the trade!!).

Chapel Gate has a tempory stop order on it,which will prob be made permanent, the High Peak wardens have been told to take reg no's of anyone using it and pass them onto the Police 2.4 90 XS

Grock, they're supposed to be using part of the £30,000 budgeted to repair it, and it is scheduled to be re-opened on May 31st.

edited to add - just had a word with a mate and he says exactly what you have, that they want an 18 month TRO which will probably then become permanent.

What is the point of fixing it and them putting a TRO on it?! water damage will still occur no matter what they do, nothing to do with vehicles

The Derbyshire website says that Chapel Gate will be opened on 31may11 after drainage work. I'll be there then and the next day, 1jne11, if anyone wants a quiet drive.

Merlin

PS also 25-27may11.
