My other half jumped in her Mini and off when mine decided not to start this morning. It was the smoke coming out of the handbrake gaiter that pointed me to a duff engine earth. Put a spare jump lead from the engine lifting eye to the earth on my winch battery leads which sorted the problem

I think I fall into the 'very lucky' category.

After washing her own car, she steered (without PAS) & braked (without servo) the dead Defender whilst I dragged it behind the 101 to the local Indy to be fixed. No complaints whatsoever, from her (or me ). I guess I'm very lucky too

Mrs Grenadier is no doubt pleased that during this heatwave the DCPU has been stuck in Spain being repaired and she has been able to go to work each day in her fast, comfortable, quiet, Audi TT with aircon and a proper sound system. I doubt she would do anything to change this status quo.
The bad news for her is the garage in Palma are finished and the Def will be on its way back and return to its place as 'daily driver' by the end of the month Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |
