Talking about this today. With lots of folks with parched paddocks that are scarce of grass the chances that horses will colic are high, one possibility is sand colic as they are pulling up dry grass along with the roots and ingesting dust and soil with it too.
The grass is stressed, the first decent rain and the resulting flush will be high in sugars so laminitis risk will be even higher. Horseflies are a nightmare this year. One bit me on the arm yesterday and it came up as a decent sized and painful bump by evening - hate horseflies. Water is obviously vitally important, our herd are drinking huge amounts at present, but folks tend to overlook the importance of salt and other minerals too. . Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

Same here. I got bit by Horseflies not just once but twice on the arm like you and on the ankle. And the icing on the cake a bloody sodding Tick as well despite keeping an eye out for the blighters and heeding typical advise as normal. Perhaps the little sod cane in with one of the dogs but it was a Deer tick anyway.
Never used to see em’ until about 5 years ago. Water is indeed a pain, loads more work involved and any watering of any plants a nightmare constantly even with moisture granules etc. Resorted to any bigger pots putting them in a bin liner to keep the water in and drawstring the top up just so water can be put in and none get out. Especially in greenhouses or conservators etc. So much extra work involved it’s not nice. 20 - 25.C is good but above that it’s just annoying when it comes to agri, animals etc. I even had to move my 90 into the shade and go well out of my way to to find a suitable place just to work on it or wash it. In fact I’ll have to again this weekend to do a little job. NEVER SURRENDER! ⛽️🛢️👨🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧 |
