2009 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Santorini Black

It is tilted backwards but you can also see in the video that the lever is tilted across as well, with this silver ball type lever it is obviously just a lot more prominent than the black version.

But.... we drive at the other side of the road this this would mean that the gearlever is further away? Am i correct? a defender from 1984 pretending to be a puma with a touch of Range Rover

we have a customer in France that runs 3 defenders and he has the shift-r fitted to all 3 and he loves how it feels. The gearstick itself sits a bit further back and is angled slightly, but it does not sit anymore to one side.

That gearstick is not fitted correctly, and if the original once removed was the same it also wasn't fitted back correctly.
That foam that is present I agree with TMD isn't factory fit or at least isn't typical.
As it stands you gearstick(s) aren't located properly and are NOT secure.
I would not recommend you drive it like that.
Those two clips locate onto plastic lugs, which are white Nylon. There is bad should be no adjustment needed at all.
Looking at it and as Ben @ TMD said that foam is in the way, it must be partially removed to allow the tabs to locate.
The two tabs are each side and square on, so thinklooking forward towards the engine / vehicle each lug on the gearstick mech is to each side where the doors are and there are two.
And the clips on the gearstick are located over these, they simply clip over.
The foam should also in my opinion not interfere with and movement of the gearstick in any gear.
Remove some of the foam, locate the tabs to the lugs and it will sit square and be securely locked in place.
At face value, it looks to me like there is nothing wrong with the gearstick, it isn't fitted or located correctly. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R
