the main reason for upgrading a Puma engine to a 3.2 is it's still a Puma engine and will mate up to the existing mountings and gearbox. You'd probably need the Puma speedo, which pretty much means a whole puma dash.
If you want to upgrade a TD5 there are probably better options. Such as a Cummins lorry engine, which could be fitted for the same or less work. Or just sell your TD5 and buy a Puma Defender. |

I thought that the Ranger was not the ideal engine for the conversion.
I believe that the only successful conversions where done with transit engines and gearboxes. Using a ecu from the transit. Starting with a factory puma powered land rover. M & D offer solutions for fitting different engines to the MT82 gearbox and also a 3.2 conversion. I believe they use a standalone ECU to run the engine. Might be worth contacting them? |

General consensus is it’s nice to say I’ve a 3.2 Tdci, but it’s not actually that great a conversion and expensive. Much better power plants out there.

Everyone keeps saying they're better conversions, but never say like...? Unless you go full on LS3? Cummins seem too heavy, so what is there? James
