Re the engine in the Landy - it works, it pulls well enough, much more power wouldn't be very safe. Why do people always try and compare Defenders to soft roaders and semi "luxury" SUVs in an attempt at oneup-manship? Always seems a tad pathetic to me. I doubt many of us bought a Defender to tailgate everyone, try and race chavs and to fling around corners.

The engine is fine if you have a standard Defender but when you add extras such as racks/ tents larger tyres , winch etc or tow 3.5 tonnes it suddenly is vastly underpowered Thumbs Up wanting more power does not mean you have to drive like a chav Rolling Eyes I just prefer an engine with plenty of reserve as it makes for a more relaxing drive.

Defenders different in my book but then we all have different expectations and opinions Thumbs Up

They should make a defender with a 4.2 or something on them lines as a option Thumbs Up NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYWAY

Looks like you can't decide if it needs more power or not Rolling Eyes

[quote="DefenderOfTheEarth"]If they radically changed it I can guarantee you'd all be up in arms.

Yes it needs better corrosion resistance and maybe a bit more poke but other than that I'm very happy with ours. Also seems the best received vehicle we have ever had from other road users, friends and family. That counts for a lot.

Just snow foamed (and jet washed) the underside of ours ready for some self applied Waxoyl. Wish me luck![./quote]

Well the D4 has arrived today and im impressed, but its a totally different vehicle than the 110.
Some interesting comments on here since i last was on Shocked

I have to say its nice to have some luxury again, but its going to be with massive regret that the 110 will be given its last loving polish by me tomorrow before it goes up for sale sunday Big Cry

Im just not using it for what its built for lads, if im not going abroad/offroad/expeditions then i just cant justify it, it looks great but its a bit of a pavement ornament and im more likely to grab the wifes Rangie keys if i have to go on any long distance business trips.

I will be back though but i will be buying an older model maybe next year as an out an out play thing Thumbs Up You cannot teach stupid people to do clever things

I agree the defender needs more power - but when is the 3.0tdv6 underpower - it seems to have all the reserve required so far...i think more than the TDV8 i had - despite loving the a v8ness of at TD Mike

For me it's simple

2.7 unmapped in the d3 was Big Cry The 3.0 in the d4 unmapped is way better

However the TDV8 in the RRSnort is fab but the V6 just lacks that V8 Mr. Green

Each to their own been trying the latest ML X5 and Cayanne and the Porky wins hands down still not enough thou for me to canx my Merc order

BTW if you want to see have a 3.0 weasel should perform (with road manners in an Suv) try a porker Whistle

If by porker you talking Censored - no chance...i would rather walk; about as useful a car as a chocolate tea pot and about as good.

Friend had a Chyanne and it wasnt much better - i think she lasted 7 months it went

Personally im not seeing the difference between the 3.0TDV6 and the TDV8 - if you want a v8 buy the 5.0l SC otherwise the TDV6 is better (which is why they have bined it Thumbs Up ) Mike

Ken - what is the engine in the Cayenne?

The engine in my BM works well in the X5 and X6 too.

mse - hate to break it to you but to some, a white RRS is the pinnacle of wannabee footballer naffness even with an engine from a Space Shuttle.
I'd sooner have almost any other SUV. And its an insult to the proper RR. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.
