2010 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 CSW Fuji White

Random Steering vibrations

Hi, I recently rotated my tires and have been experiencing random difficult to control steering vibrations. The entire steering column vibrates. When I apply the brakes to slow down the vibration subsides almost immediately. It reoccurs only when I manuvere the steering over an uneven road.. Any idea whats causing this?

1. Wheels balanced and swapped round
2.Kingpins checked for play
3.Wheel bearings checked
4.Pan hard bushes

the swivel housings bearing pre-load that has to be set with a spring balance. It is adjusted by shimming the kingpin bearing. If the kingpin bearings have got a little worn, this could definitely cause the symptoms that you are experiencing i.e. death wabble

You shouldn’t rotate tyres on a Defender not good practice unless you do it regularly and in the correct direction for your tread pattern. Suggest you try putting them back
