United Kingdom 2004 Defender 90 Td5 SW Zambezi Silver
[For Sale] Defender 90 2004 TD5 County Station Wagon, 123k m
Genuine CSW with factory bulkhead delete. Matching numbers car. Very powerful defender (approx 180 or 190bhp). 123k miles. Huuuuge intercooler, centre box delete, stage 2 remap.

I know 11.5k may seem cheap but if you look closely at the pictures practically every panel is dented, scraped or otherwise 'cosmetically challenged' in some way. I have used the car occasionally off road at SORDC but nothing too severe.

Electric windows, heated seats fitted. I recently fitted a Pioneer DEH-X8700DAB CD head unit too. Original Land Rover unit will come with it. Sony speakers in rear, one kenwood KFC-1300P component speaker fitted to passenger side, yet to do driver's side.

Chassis is solid but could do with a dinitrol or waxoyl treatment. Currently running on black boosts with mud-terrains and 30mm spacers. I have the 5th one in the garage - meant to get it turned round as the white writing is facing outwards but never did. I'm in Aberdeen.

11.5k

Hi Calum
I think your Defender is great and has been used as it should.
I think buyers still want a polished non dented Defender at this price level.
I'm not saying mint, but generally good all round condition.
might be worth getting it sorted and asking a slightly higher price.

Hope it sells

regards
Steve

Thanks Steve for the feedback. I'm keen to make sure I'm pricing it to sell as it stands.

We're doing an attic conversion later this summer and the cash would be very helpful. Usual issue - too many projects and too little time!

You have a good point - I could spend a few thousand and a few months and then be asking 16k+ for it. I was imagining this as a solid base for somebody to tidy up and hoped I was leaving a good space for somebody to get a return on it. There's not many genuine CSWs out there and they do seem to command a significant premium over HTs and conversions.

The car is an absolute hoot to drive. Sounds fantastic and goes great. It's got a few other bits and pieces I didn't mention earlier. Strengthened steering rods, front welded diff guard, dual shock rear suspension set up. MOTd until April 19.

I'm just not finding the time to use it anymore. It can be seen from the MOT history online that it's hardly doing any miles, and that I didn't even get round to having it MOTd for most of the last year.

Here's a short video of how it sounds. I might do some more of these!

So back to business - what's the right price as it stands?

Thanks

Calum

Calum, I think the price is about right assuming there is maybe a little wriggle room for negotiation (although I wouldn't give too much).

I think the biggest issue is location. Whilst folk may be willing to travel far and wide to get either an old classic or a mint example, they are less likely to travel for something of average or slightly below average condition (even if only cosmetic). Don't let that put you off, there are those that will travel for almost anything (I travelled to Bath to buy my Series 3 and then drove it to Aberdeen to catch the ferry home!). Whilst this shouldn't affect the value it will reduce the amount of interested parties and mean a sale will take longer. I would suggest geting some visibility on local FB goups too such as "highland tractors,4x4s, plant and boats for sale/wanted", "Orkney Merkitplace", "Aberdeenshire cars & Vehicles for sale", "Shetland Classifieds - Auto Section. Shetland & Orkney." etc.

Good luck with the sale Thumbs Up

Hi Calum, I love your 90 and think it wears its scars well, character! If I was looking to buy it though, I’d knock you down on those scars, as would any subsequent buyer from me!
No mention of history for it, very important at 123k miles I would think.
If you need to sell it I would put it up at £9.5k, your location doesn’t help, as you’re surrounded by Scots Rolling with laughter
Trouble is if you start spending on bodywork, waxing etc then you may not get your money back, time, hassle, pickier buyers etc etc
If you’ve had your fun and owned a few years then I bet you’re not losing on it anyway
Just saying
