Nakatenanga cargo track fitting ideas
Just mulling a few ideas around in my head, as I don't want to drill any holes in my beloved defender.

Has anyone used the Nakatenanga cargo track and mounted it using the existing holes in the tub that have the lashing rings. Instead of simply mounting on the floor like I have seen many, If I mount along the sides this still leaves a flat floor and the bonus of no holes drilled.

The measurements look promising with the profile looking like the it'll sit on the side and line up. The lashing eye bolt centre is circa 20mm from the floor and the cargo track is 50mm wide, so maybe only minor trimming of the lower edge but not enough to affect operation.

Anyone??

hi devon-rover,

not nak cargo track and not bottom lashing ring holes but ... FWIW I've put front runner cargo rack (is black - looks OEM)on the side of the wheel arch where a seat would be bolted through in a 90 SW (I permanently have one seat out) - that means its a few cm up from the floor...

it works well to secure boxes, bags and occasionally a fridge into the side of the load area rather down into the floor of the load area...

Cheers

That's good to hear. I have 3 wolfboxes plus other usual camping odds and ends and wanted the location of the lashing points flexible so I can keep it secure depending on what is carried.

For months I was wondering why the back of the 110 smelt like a wet dog until I pulled the rubber mat out to find that the carpet underneath was soaking wet, tracking the damp back it appears that the standard rings are letting in water, the olny seal is the nut on the end of the stud . It looks as though Leeds is getting an order Don't make old people mad.

Thanks for the link simon they do look really nice bits of kit, I'm still thinking that I can mount them further down as the 110 only has 2 eyes fore and aft of the load bay and so I only need one type of load restraint so it might as well be just the cargo rail.

ARC99 I don't have carpet just rubber matt but then the rear is watertight and as precaution the securing bolts would have thread lock on them just to keep the water out and naturally another reason not to introduce more holes into the wheel arches where water could get in.

Miker With all the mods soo far I have only drilled two holes in the battery box and four in the chassis that's it. And should I need too, be able to return her to forecourt condition easily without any evidence visible.

It is one those things that you think why didn't they do it from the factory? instead of a few flimsy rings in each corner.

FYI they doo fit. Would be mighty tight with carpet there and you have to drill the holes slightly offset but It can be fitted without trimming the tracking

I fastened ours to an 18mm birch ply shelf, one strip in the middle and one to the right, this was so we could tie down x4 wolf boxes and also get dog in the back safely.
The track is great and it worked an absolute treat!
Cheers,
Leon

Did the rails come pre-drilled for attaching to the wheel arches?

No they come undrilled from Overlander 4x4. I drilled them slightly off centre to allow the rail to fit without trimming the lower edge and still use the factory holes. Also can be found on Fb, Ytube, Insta & Twitter @4WDSouthwest
