I had a little Guy for around 18 months they’re ok if used with awning ect easy to hitch up ,not so good if you have back problems easy to sell on too

Personal choice but won't put loads of strain on defender mechanicals is not so much a worry as Defenders are designed to tow 3.5 tons.
If you do not wish to buy a full-size caravan then a trailer tent would be my choice easy to put up most have a good size kitchen at the back and if you buy a toilet tent and a porta potty you would have a toilet for when you are caught short! Personally, if you're going to tow something it might as well be a proper caravan or trailer tent?
Have you seen the Opus trailers? Chuffing expensive though!

Yes. Chuffing expensive, that's how I would put it too. But they do look nice and save space (and daylight) on the driveway.

Have you looked at things like the Swift Basecamp?
There seems to be a new market for walk in small vans that you can store stuff in and then set up for adventure weekends. I'm starting to see these at cycling and triathlon events. |

Just replaced my Vango Force 10 Mk4 with a Mk5. Lots more room, still the same fast erection (oooh err missus)

Brilliant choice the Force 10.
Our Scout troop must have 20 of these things, the youngest one is at least 20 years old and still going strong. Sadly the youth of today deem them out of vogue, but if we keep hold of them for another 20 years they'll come back into fashion  2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone

Are they still made in Scotland? Vango is an anagram of Govan where they were originally made. My last Force 10's had "Made in Scotland" on them, but the new one does not...
Been a user for 20+ years myself - always use them for out-of-the-car camping (i.e. if I don't have to backpack with them)... Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |
