Gearbox problem

Yesterday on the N2 I switched to 5, heard a sound like a bearing blew up, lots of rattling and engine disengaged from drivetrain. Also the engine did not start anymore (some built in protection ?) but was fine 10 min later. Today it appeared that 4 is still working but the rest isn't. So working out scenario's now, diagnoses what happened to the gearbox takes place in parallel. Any thoughts anyone what it could be ?
