Mud Terrain Tyre Review
I’m a bit of a tyre nerd and love reading the detailed tyre reviews from German publications, but there is never much coverage of off road tyres. But there is a decent one looking at MT tyres from a South African mag http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2016-...e-Test.htm 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I really like my BF KM2's but I do have issues with they soon fill up and don't clean when in slimy mud especially when it's hard underneath. To get them to self clean you need to drop the pressures so low you have to blow them back up as soon as you're clear.
The other issue I have is that in 265/75 16 size, they wear so much more quickly than the narrower size, I struggle to get more than 30K out of them, the old MT's were good for easily double that, go back a few years and it was nigh impossible to wear out their Track Edge variety, by far the best tyres they ever made Thumbs Up

Over the years i"v had a few different type, the best was Good year M/T , They were 33x12.50"s, and lasted 4 years ,did 90,000 miles on them, , and they still had 6mm tread when i took them off, ,just couln"t balance them,, guy at the tyre company was amazed, , he said it was down to driving syle,, no hard braking etc, Cool

I’m slightly sceptical of their results given they say all tyres tested were 265/75R16.. afaik Goodyear do not produce the MTR in a 265, if they do I can’t find it for sale anywhere. 2014 Keswick Utility 2.2

Good spot UtilityTruck. Gooodyear don’t even list that tyre in that size on their SA website. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Their scoring is also off: GGMT scored 227.2 but came fourth behind a tyre with a score of only 221.8 Rolling Eyes Darren

I posted a comment about the size and scoring the Tyre Reviews website. The admin has replied to say that the size discrepancy maybe due to it being SA market tyre, although as above I can’t see that is the case.

The strange scoring is said to be due to some tests being weighted differently to others. Why this can’t be reflected in the score, I’m not sure, but I do know I have seen this same issue in the tests of road tyres from the respected German publications, so hopefully not some unsubtle favouritism or anything. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

The review is from 2016 - so *maybe* they did that size two yeas ago? (Just speculation)

I did the Trans America Trail on set of Goodyear MT/Rs. Started out with 5000 miles on them. All road miles.
Here's what another 5 weeks and 5000 off road miles did to them.

My travelling companion in a Jeep Wrangler had a set of BFG ATs with 20,000 miles on them when we started. At the end of the trip, his BFGs looked the same as when we started!
