So true. I am also was born in 1953 and reach sixty-five in June. I also received a local authority mortgage in 1970 except that my first house cost seven thousand two hundred pounds for a lovely stone built two bedroom cottage in Mellor on the Peak district border. To give young people some idea of house price rises that same cottage was on the market recently for £320.000.00 and the person I sold that cottage to over thirty years ago was none other than Betty Driver best known for her role as Betty Williams on the British soap opera, Coronation Street.

We had two red phone boxes in our village and I got paid 10 bob a week for cleaning them. Can't remember how many little windows they had but let's just say a hell of a lot. Defender 90XS SW

Well I have been a state pensioner for a while now and still work 50-60+ hours a week.
So I am entitled to be a GRUMPY OLD GIT! Now I wonder what the actual age profile is of Def 2 members. Should we do an age survey? Brendan |
