I was taking a closer look at the seal between my Windscreen frame and the bulkhead, as I thought it might be the ingress point for footwell leaks, and rust on the bolts of the lower half of the A-pillar. From a distance the foam looked normal, but I thought I'd take a really close look to check condition and spotted that whoever had fitted the seal (and I have no idea whether it was factory fitted or retro fitted) cut a length of seal that was too short, thereby requiring one further inch of seal to ensure the entire length was done. Logically one would cut a new, correctly measured length of foam, but so as to avoid going over budget by 23p the fitter instead slotted in the missing length of foam, cut to size, but leaving a clear ingress point which I am now sure is the source of all my leaks. Wow.
You can just about make out the vertical line to the right of the Windscreen bracket. Click image to enlarge Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Monsieur Le Grenadier, I guess you have that separate short end piece of foam strip on both ends of the windscreen, yes?
Asking, because at a certain point in time the two ends of foam at either end of the screen became a “design” feature at assembly. Mine which is a August 2008 built still has a nice one piece well installed foam seal. No separate end pieces, and no leaks. But later and this to the end of production they started putting these end pieces. A friend of mine has a 2013 SW, same two end pieces. So maybe it was also like that already when your 2011 was assembled. The why of this design change will remain one of those unanswered Solihull mysteries I guess. Matter has been discussed here a few times, below an example.
