Dopey Newbie Question.....
Hi guys, my first post here! Very Happy

Had my 2.4 Defender for about 6 months now and absolutely loving it Thumbs Up

She's a 2011 car, so been doing a few mods and generally tidying her up....got a mk.2 gas strut from our mates at MUD UK last week and after the rear door trying to cut me in half again last night, I thought "sod it", that strut's getting fitted today!
Thought I'd remove the spare wheel from the (original LR) door carrier to make things a bit more manageable. Found the incredibly flimsy plastic tool that was supplied bagged up with the locking wheel nut key, to take the "chrome" covers off of the nuts......could I get the Censored off?😁😁😁 Managed to remove the little teeth for the inside of the extractor legs, without even shifting one of the blessed things....so that's in the bin now and I've got another winging its way by snail mail. Is there some sort of trick I'm missing with this tool??? I assumed; just push it on till the teeth all "click" at the back of the wheel nut cover and then just pull it off???

Anyone tell me where I'm going wrong on this? (Thanks in advance for your advice chaps).

JT43 πŸ˜‰

P.s. Just badgered on with the MUD (Nakatenga), gas strut, it went on fairly easily (with a heavy duty rivet tool) and works a treat! Best upgrade I've fitted so far by a long shot πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

If I understand you correctly, then I believe the chrome cover stays on just put the socket over it. Only the locking wheel nut cover comes off.

Welcome to Def2, photos please! Thumbs Up James

locking nut only, yes should push on /pull off, might be that its been in place so long its seized, a bit of heat might help, try boiling water poured onto the cover. Might check mine not been off since new. Other nuts just use the socket DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy
