Clear LED Indicators & MOT
Just had the old girl MOT'd and the tester wanted to fail it because of the clear LED Bolt on bits indicators, saying they were an incorrect colour. He said that they where not orange, when I explained that they where E Marked and approved for the vehicle and had in fact got amber LED's inside he agreed, and changed it to an advisory that they where not amber enough.

Anyone else had an issue. 2008 Defender 110 XS CSW

Time to move mot station as he doesn't sound very clever. Ray

I've got clear Wipac LED's all round, position, front and rear flasher, fog and reverse. Just passed its first MOT last week at a JLR dealer and let's face it if it's not standard kit then usually they are the first ones to comment. Anyhow you've got 12 months to shop around and find an MOT tester with some common sense. Defender 90XS SW

Like I say he did pass it in the end, but with an advisory. My concerns where have they Faded in some way to be less orange than before. 2008 Defender 110 XS CSW

I'd still change MOT station.

There are some that are Anti 4x4 and they'll find anything to try and cause you misery.

As it's down on paper, wherever you go next year stick some cheap standard ones in and they'll think you've heeded the advisory.
That'll stop the interest in them at least and after that, forget about it.

As long as they are 'E' marked and flash correct, then there is no problem. No Guts, No Glory.

Interestingly enough it is the same place I have used for the last 4 years, and the same station used by Rogers of Bedford who regularly send Defenders over to them, but I think its was a newly qualified MOT tester. 2008 Defender 110 XS CSW

Devon-Rover, good info. I guess it's down to interpretation - what is amber, is it a dark yellow or a light yellow or is it orange in colour and if so what shade of orange. Whistle Defender 90XS SW
