Definitely run the rear's lower...otherwise you'll need new fillings in your teeth when unladen
I'm 35 psi all round... Go lower and your economy suffers, go higher and your fillings suffer. I've also softened my suspension, and added KONI shocks for a better ride Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

Depends on weight and tyres doesn't it? Our camper Landy is about 2400kg and tyres are Conti AT.
Usually I go higher than LR's recommendation of 2.1/3.3 bar or 30/45 psi, say about 2.4/3.6 (35/50), lower on gravel roads, of course. Never perceived it as being bouncy - it's a Defender; I like it |

Great! Thank you all for taking the time to reply.
@macfrank, I understand the higher pressure at the back because of the camper van set up you have so you have more weight at the back. In fact when I'm going on a trip and I have some load at the back, the ride is so much better. @Scotm, 45 is what I used to run at the back and I think that's way too much when there's no load. There's an English Defender specialist not far from where I live in the South of France and he recommended going for 2.5 BAR/36 PSI all round. Just ordered a Startech steering wheel and some other goodies at JE in Coventry and thought I'd ask them too, they recommend 2.4 BAR/35 PSI all round with the standard size 235-85-16 so I've settled for that and see how I get on. I've got two weeks to play with pressures before my new tyres are fitted. |
