BAS Tuning - Italy
Ciao Italian Members,

Before I annoy Pete with a 'dealer' question, knowing how busy he is, I was wondering if any of our Italian forum members has had a BAS workshop tune in Italy? Especialy in the areas around Milan/Turin? Looking to get this done in May and whilst the beer is not as good as good in Italy, it's a whole lot closer and the food is much much better Bow down . I won't get started on the 'ragazzas' Whistle

If anyone has any contacts, they'd be hugely appreciated.

If not, question two for a general audience. How effective is the remote remap control compared with the workshop tune? I'm not fussed about the long-term ability to constantly chang or monitor the tune on my phone, I'd be more keen to get a pro to do it once for me, properly. Any thoughts?

Grazie mille

I might be wrong but, I believe the remap is exactly the same on both. It's just the remote options gives you the ability to take the remap on/off and you can read error codes and adjust settings yourself. If you can be bothered to put it on/off the remote can limit the speed to 5mph as another layer of anti theft.

Which ever way you go you won't regret it. James

I drove to BAS in Yorkshire to enquire about having a remap on site by booking the Puma in for a rolling road session leading to a ECU remap. This was the expensive option. Pete was very clear "why when you can get the same resuts from the RRC?" The RRC updates the ECU software to the latest LR release automatically, the remap is the same either way. I bought the RRC on the spot and sitting outside Pete's unit did the remap.
Your choice - but I was convinced and the results were a revelation. Thumbs Up

Thank you both, very useful to know. In essence you have answered my question, it being whether the rolling-road to remap option by an engineer offered any technical advantage or level of precision over the tool or not? Obviously not, so I think the Tool is absolutely the best option for me here in France!!

Thanks once again for the top tips Bow down Monsieur Le Grenadier

I am based just on the southern side of Laggo Maggiore.

I had the remote BAS tune, first 150 until the warrenty was up, then 170 a few months back. All very easy to do, and as others have suggested, I think it’s just the same tune as they would load in the workshop.

Just for clarity, the workshop tune doesn't involve going on the rolling road.

Pete Bell said to me, that BAS do all the necessary testing (including stressing engines to breaking point) to get the optimum remap, to avoid stressing customer vehicles on the rolling road. James

Thanks Yannis. Now, Laggo Maggiore, there's somewhere I've always wanted to visit. Lucky, lucky boy Bow down

Done Garda (love), Como (love), Lugano (love), but never Maggiore. Maybe this summer!! Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

Hi Grenadier,

then, during the week I live in Casale Monferrato (Allesandria-AL), about an hour from Turin, while on weekends, normally on Friday nights, I return home to Venice.
