Just wondering where is the best place to buy a standard exhaust for a 200tdi 110 SW? Is it Paddocks/Brit Parts?
I looked at a local place that makes SS exhausts for Allisport but not sure I can justify £700 on an exhaust Click image to enlarge James MY2012 110 2.2TDCi XS SW Orkney Grey - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic43410.html MY1990 110 200TDi SW beautifully faded Portofino Red - https://www.defender2.net/forum/post743641.html#743641 MY1984 90 V8 Slate Grey - https://www.defender2.net/forum/post744557.html#744557 Instagram @suffolk_rovers |

Stainless for £474 from here:
https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-LR1054SS They also do mild steel too for £92: https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-LR1054MSP Or the genuine LR part for £318: https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-LR1054MS I've had a Rimmer Bros stainless system on my 101 for the last 18 years so they'll be getting a look when the 110 needs a new exhaust. Local motor factors will be able to sell you a Bosal or similar exhaust for not a great deal of money.

Thank you all. So mild steel for £83 or SS for £474. Is it really worth the extra for SS?? Having only just got the 110, I wonder how long the standard exhaust lasts? She's a keeper I hope, but still, I can get nearly 6 standard for the price of a SS
Persuade me SS is the way to go? Fit & forget (apart from the clamps which I've replaced with SS items). Note that they don't stay shiny though - after a while they look like a normal exhaust but remain totally solid. They also sound a bit "ringy" when new, but a 200tdi will quickly coat the inside with carbon to damp that down. This is my 101's tailpipe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mu2Q8-jWoY4 |

Thanks Intercept, comments appreciated.
If I fit a SS exhaust will my 200tdi sound like a V8 James MY2012 110 2.2TDCi XS SW Orkney Grey - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic43410.html MY1990 110 200TDi SW beautifully faded Portofino Red - https://www.defender2.net/forum/post743641.html#743641 MY1984 90 V8 Slate Grey - https://www.defender2.net/forum/post744557.html#744557 Instagram @suffolk_rovers |

I am pricing up for an SS system for my 300tdi at present.
Rimmers do not seem cheapest for a Double SS system so far. I am still researching on actual tube sized used. Silencing, I do not want a system that is particularly noisier than the original. And on whether all SS flanges and clamps are used as seems to defeat point of changing. It is labour saving I’m looking at as on the parts the payback time on the SS system is huge. 1995 Defender 110 CSW 1971 SIIA Lightweight |

I had a standard factory fit exhaust on the 110 Puma for 8 years and was still fine when I traded it in.

A quick search on here, it seems Double Ss exhausts aren't well rated?
If a standard one lasts 8 years it hardly seems worth a SS Hmm James MY2012 110 2.2TDCi XS SW Orkney Grey - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic43410.html MY1990 110 200TDi SW beautifully faded Portofino Red - https://www.defender2.net/forum/post743641.html#743641 MY1984 90 V8 Slate Grey - https://www.defender2.net/forum/post744557.html#744557 Instagram @suffolk_rovers |

If it were me I wouldnt pay the extra for ss. Not unless it was a £15k motor i was going to keep. Its an old landy and tradition says you run them on a budget. Save the cash and use it for repairs.

I've learnt the existing exhaust has been on 8 years, so I think I'm going to go standard for £85. Then I can buy some goodies too.
I can just see, if I invest in a SS I'll damage it or something silly. Thanks for all your comments. It is one I’m planning on keeping.
Famous four is cheapest I found so far. I want to have a talk to makers about spec. Seem a bit lacking in data sheets and such. I may go with OEM spec otherwise. I am not impressed with the Britpart one fitted when I got the truck I think it has done less than five years. 1995 Defender 110 CSW 1971 SIIA Lightweight |

£366 is quite tempting.
I've been recommended Bearmach for standard, but will that just be a Britpart exhaust?
