Mercedes Vito
SWMBO has decided that her Mini no longer suits and has taken a shine to a Vito - probably a swb 190 bhp auto crew cab, does anyone know anything good or bad about them?

Cheers Keith

The Guy behind me has a new one every three years or so. He's had a few. He did try a Transit, but that didn't last long.

I would trust that he wouldn't drive a rubbish vehicle.

If you think corrosion is bad on a Landy wait until you get a Vito Rolling with laughter

To be honest i've no idea if they're better now, but they had a bad rep for rusting

I think you're right Mick.

We've been spoiled with a Freelander 2 that for 50k and 5 years needed a sidelight bulb and a Cooper SD that's needed a rad hose & aircon pipe due to poor assembly, not too bad when you consider the jobs I've had to do on the 110 in the same time period.

Just looking for anyone with experience on the new models

Cheers again Keith

I have driven a Vito 116 CDI Sport auto crewcab.

The worst auto gearbox I have ever driven.

Sometimes it would be shuddering along it too tall a gear then other times it would be revving it's nuts off. Trying to coax it to change by using the tiptronic was like sending a letter to Australia in the 1800s 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I bought new in 2016 a 190bhp auto crew van extra long.
The dealership got the spec wrong and completely messed up the preparation and caused more issues when trying to fix it.
They agreed to take it back for full refund after 2000miles.
The actual product was really nice to drive, I found the gearbox most agreeable, and I was rather disappointed to have lost my first ever new van.
However I had lost confidence in them and went and bought a high mileage D4 commercial which I am still enjoying.

I would buy another one, not from same dealer and could have happily run it instead of the Tdv8 Range Rover.

I believe they now have the rust issues under control?

A couple of my friends are Merc techs, the early Vitos were stored in fields after build and were arriving at dealerships with corrosion, pre registration.
One of those Merc techs, I ride trials with and he drives a VW t6.

The Vito replaced a 2010 Volkswagen transporter T5.1 lwb dsg.
Of the two I preferred driving the Vito, of the two I think the VW was stronger in construction.

When my D4 is due to be replaced I think Volkswagen will get the sale.
