Chile 2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Stornoway Grey
New motor for my Puma
Hi All!

Today the dealer has opened for the LR Club in Chile a discount sale of defender spares.
One of it is a refurfished Puma 2.4 Motor (work made by Land Rover)

The price seems to be quite attractive (4.2 kGBP) here in Chile (remember that just import something from UK can add up 40-60% of the price in origin).

My proud have right now around 300,000 km on the clock and probably soon or later a major repair should be done on it.

Its wotrth to buy it and spare it for the future or just I should pass?

Any recomendation?

Cheers to all! Eduardo

****personal opinion******

If you have the cash and the Place to store it. Go for it!

I don’t have the place Or else i would have done it also. Everything defender is getting more and more expensive.

And 300k is already a substantial amount a defender from 1984 pretending to be a puma with a touch of Range Rover

If you can afford to buy it and have the cash tied up in it, and have somewhere to store it properly of course, then go for it. It will give you peace of mind and if you need one in a hurry and don't have it, it will cost you a bundle.

I bought a take out running engine about three years ago as a "just in case" spare and have never regretted it.

What's your local market like for alternative replacement engines? There's usually someone out there who can swap in an alternative engine that is well known and supported in the local market.
