Bored, so was browsing about.
Looking at the winter pics of the defender mule thing again and I wondered about the wide vent across the bonnet. That is just about where the previous defender and I suppose series bonnet lips would be. Then got me wondering , if that were the front lip edge of the bonnet and that there is a lot of botched grill work down the front / middle of the mule ( a classic hide the features move ), could the new model have a recessed grill face, as a throwback to the original series land rovers ? It was commented that it would be unmistakably land rover looking ( to paraphrase ) Click image to enlarge (Source: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/land-rover/de...e-pictures ) ------------------------------- I miss my V8's.... |

To answer the OP's question in one word - no.
The trend of vehicles front overhangs growing in recent years is to meet the ever increasingly stringent crash performance regulations, both occupant and pedestrian. By removing an area of compressible space before the engine and other hard points would make it very difficult to meet the regs. That and packaging increasingly complex drivetrains means all the space is needed. Instagram: L90andy My 1984 Ninety: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56071.html - SOLD! Unmistakably LandRover looking does not mean unmistakably Defender looking unfortunately.

The basic structure of a G Wagon is very different to the Meccano set that is a Defender. It is more readily adaptable for modern safety measures such as air bags. Darren
