Break circuit to disable Puma
Hi,

the TD5 guys seem to have numerous ideas on how to install a hidden kill switch, i.e. which wires to break
http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic58741.html

Has anyone done any of this on a Puma (2012+ in particular)?
I assume some TD5 solutions might generate ECU error codes or even limp-home mode on a Puma?? Also the fuel pumps are different and I'm not sure the TDCi likes the fuel being cut off?

PMs appreciated if you don't like to share it here.

cheers,
Frank

The 2.2 puma has the same inertia switch as the td5 on the bulkhead so the same applies as to the td5. Disconnect it and it won't run Thumbs Up

The only code you'll get in a puma is crash switch activated code if you try to start it with the switch disconnected Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

thanks, that sounds promising Thumbs Up

Have you actually done it? I guess it's possible to get a male and female plug in order to make a non-invasive modification? I'd rather not cut the cables there, as the intertia switch is so close to the MCU and the cables so short.

I'd also be intersted in other wires to break, maybe even without the need to route new cables through the bulkhead?

The problem with the y connector method is easily overcome if the scroats are looking for it.. And the use of the inertia switch is becoming more widely known....i would suggest hiding the place you cut into the switch the best you can
