Mind you, Recaro seats will take up more space. I’d stick to standard front seats

Im currently thinking along these lines.

Remove the 60/40 bench seats from the frame. Keep the frame in place, reinforce a little then weld a 3mm steel plate over the top of the frame, drill holes to suit a decent seat, bolt in place. Then should i want to i could weld more plates in place to create a seatbox of sorts.

Anything wrong with doing that?

Grenadier, that’s correct. The new seat box was designed to be fixed with the exact mounting holes from the old seat box as well. The standard rear seat is just too bulky by design. Land Rover shouldn’t have used it in the rear of a double cab if you ask me.

Is yours a Puma? Monsieur Le Grenadier

Thank you. I am wondering if the seat back on the Recaros could be adapted/removed given they are nor visible, without affecting their integrity. Perhaps cut along the line of the window sill so that the top retains the hard casing and overlaps the sill, but below is only the inner, perhaps covered in a protective material. It does seem to be the bulbous bottom half that looks too deep to offer a rearward lean. Monsieur Le Grenadier

Apparently ford c-max rear seats fit in a treat with very little fabrication .
