Hi
The other day, went for an offroad ride on my bike (BMWF800GS) and as passing over sand, the bike in front of got stuck, and I crashed into his back ... as it was a bigger bike than mine (a 1200GSAdventure) I smashed the windshield and the headlight against his panniers supports ... The BMWMotorrad dealer charges me for a new headlight almost 370€ .... I was wondering if any of you guys out there, over Europe, knows where I can get a second hand headlight, or new but cheaper ... If you can get some web adresses or emails I would apreciate! Found these guys in UK www.motorworks.co.uk . They sell a left hand headlight, much cheaper, new, but it will still cost me 180£ plus shipping (I'm waiting for quote) ... Any help is much apreciated Regards Joao '10 Land Rover Defender 110 CC '08 BMW F800GS '64 SIIA Forward Control '69 SIIA 109 ZA CKD _____________________________________________ You have the right to remain silent. thanks fekete ... this is a new listed item ....checked yesterday and it did not found it !
that's my problem ... I only have the glass broken ... I could get a new glass, but would be a flat one, without that emboss that the original has ... plus I need the bike everyday to go to work, I can't remove the headlight to take it to a glazier and ride without the headlight ... these two issues would be enough for the police to seize me the bike if I'm stopped ! the guy says in the add that we can buy the glass, but here in Portugal no dealer sells those ... ... only the full set ... This is why I'm trying to find a full headlight, but second hand one (continental specs)... or new, but cheaper ... But can't seem to find a bike breaker !! TY Fekete!
If you find a bike breaker, or second hand set at a dealer I'll owe you one! It has to be a LH headlight ... don't know what's the diference from Uk to rest of europe ... you drive on the left, but a bike's headlight could be the same, could it not ?... Right, can't find a secondhand one so popped over to the local BMW Dealer and they don't just sell the glass
you can only buy the whole unit. They can get this in 2 days the price is £154.17 + tax total is £184.80 ? i asked about L H side and they said they only do the one ? There EMAIL is.... http://www.chester-motorrad.co.uk/ Tel is...0151 373 4802 and i spoke to Gary if you need anymore help just ask. i'll ring a few salvage yards see if they have any ? looking at the glass i would say the only differences in LH/RH Would be the reflector in side the unit ?.....they just had the new 1600 delivered when i was there nice bike Regards Karlos NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. Thanks a LOT Fekete!
second hand ones are hard to find because usually when a bike crashes the headlight is easy to brake! even if the bike only falls on to the side! The price is the same as at motorworks.co.uk ... I'm waiting for a friend that has his brother in Germany, but it's not easy to find there either ! But I can see that over there in the UK is cheaper than every where else in Europe! I'll buy from there, no doubt, unless a miracle happens!
