Hi
I have also been following the thread and noticed your 'pm' sent yesterday. Well done for securing it. A bargain compared to some on the market and at a fair price l would say for the age and condition. What's the story with the blanked off rear lights? 2010 XS USW 1957 Series One 88 diesel 1958 Series One 88 4x2 |

I would say it didn’t have the optional direction indicators fitted, and has had the rear quarter caps replaced at some point?

I saw this advertised on the forum, looks like a good un! Well done, I used to have a ‘59 but it was nowhere near as original as that.

Are you sure? I thought that all S2 vehicles has the indicator-ready rear cappings even if they didn't have indicators. Myself I have never seen one that doesn't, even on vehicles which have never had indicators, and the S2 that I sold a few years ago (and now regret selling) had the twin hole cappings but no upper hole in the body underneath. I also don't remember seeing a photo (as opposed to an artist's impression) of the rear capping with one hole, but I look forward to being proved wrong with a photo. In the early days of flashing indicators it was entirely normal for them to flash white at the front and red at the rear, and it may well be that this vehicle does (or did) that. There would if so be twin filament bulbs (5W/15W) in the sidelight units, and the brake light filament and 15W front filament would be used for the flash. This arrangement is still legal on vehicles over a certain age to this day. Very nice vehicle, by the way, and a good find. |

I see it plyed it’s trade in Dunoon - just across the Clyde from me. Not sure if that garage is still on the go though. I’ll ask some of the boys I work with from Dunoon if they know anything about it if you like?
