Brake Pads
Ciao,

Euro Car Parts has 50% off all brake parts today, ending 9pm UK

Just been looking at the Brembo pads but there are two thicknesses, 18mm and 17mm, does any one know which ones my 2014 Puma needs?

I would just get the cheapest of the two, I can't imagine 1mm is going to make a vast difference. The tolerances on Defender callipers aren't going to be that fine that 18mm won't fit (especially if the discs aren't new) and 17mm will be taken up by the piston if it's slightly too small.

Pagid are also worth considering, they're cheaper and just as good. Contrary to popular internet Myth they're genuine Pagid, not rebranded cheap rubbish. It's just ECP have the exclusive rights to distribute them in the UK.

Island 4x4 are great until you need to return something, atrocious customer service, takes weeks to get your money back!

£18 plus VAT at Island 4x4 (as they sell direct to the public it's illegal to only show ex VAT prices.....)

Just over £15 including VAT at ECP.

When you take the '50% off' offer into account ECP are much cheaper. Never pay full price at ECP there is always an offer of some sort on, usually a minimum of 25%.

Its strange though, the couple of times I've has issues with Island 4x4 a simple email and follow up phone call they've been fantastic - I suppose its pot luck on who takes the call.

Good thread though and a timely reminder to check my pads at the weekend - I've got ebc greenstuff on, but never been really happy they seem to lack bite, although better when hot.

I bought a heated mirror glass from island 4x4 which was faulty. Took over an hour to get through to them on the phone, no replies to emails. In the end I returned it in person only to be told because I'd bought it on the internet I'd have to wait for someone who dealt with the internet to do the refund and it would take up to 6 weeks.

Never again.
