No connection but saw this on Facebook and thought might be interested.
Vortex Performance Exhaust Company. We are looking for anyone who owns a Defender 110 Puma & TD5 for Performance exhaust development. Were based in Essex and we would need the vehicles for 2 days. Please inbox me [via Facebook] for further details or call me on 01375 372 037 ask for Lee Dumas They are basically wanting to build a prototype for manufacture so you get a Vortex exhaust for material costs only. I was tempted, even if just to get a stainless exhaust at a very low price, but didn't know what effect it may have on my remap, so didn't want to risk it. An exhaust would not change a remap in any way

I'm a bit of a mechanical numpty so don't understand the science and also a jessy with performance upgrades so have to be 100% confident with them. And thus this isn't for me on the off chance it may effect the temp. It was Vortex themselves who suggested it 'may'.
Also with a DPF I'm not sure a vortex exhaust would have a benefit? But... a stainless exhaust for a few hundred quid was tempting. If I a straight thru exhaust and didn't have a remap I'd bite their hand off! I can assure you changing the exhaust will not alter the map. Thats like asking if changing the air filter or tyres will adjust the map, go get a cheap exhaust. Changing a turbo however would.

Removing the DPF/CAT will alter back pressure though and would need the map tweaking to compensate for the change to prevent the turbo from over spooling.
If they’re just going to do a down pipe back then go for it 👍 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html Instagram - @r22oyp Roy |
