We had ours replaced under warranty on the dcpu with no arguments. When these start rusting (which they will) we'll replace them with stainless ones. Ray

My 2014 ones are also rusting well. Haven't tried the main dealers yet. That will be my first port of call. I paid for a warranty in the purchase price, I will try and use it.
Which stainless ones are recommended? I was wondering about treating myself to a set of Gwyn Lewis ones? |

Mine rusted at 4 years. Didn't bother with the warranty, just bought stainless steel ones from YRM metal solutions and painted them satin black. Hardest bit was getting the original fixings out as they too had rusted solid!

Even more important is to replace the thread-rivets as soon as possible against new pieces in bigger dimension and stainless steel. If not done early, screw and rivet rust together with the result that the rivet-nut turns and you will not be able to loosen the bracket (in an easy way). There are special tools you can use for new nut-rivets: [/img] |

mine did the same, and when I went to replace them the rivnuts (as above) spun, so replacement was a bit of a nightmare.
I got some powedercoated ones fitted, hopefully they will last longer. Certainly look a lot better. My 90 Project : http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic52774.html |

don't bother with the rivnuts. Just use stainless nuts and bolts. There is a hole in the outrigger big enough to get your hand in and drop the bolts through.

I fitted this kit to the front as the Rivnuts were at one with the bolts and had to be cut off of the front outrigger.
It also has the benefit of stopping quite so much crud from getting in the door handle and onto the front outrigger. https://gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/product/defende...9-rtc4685/ 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper. Wide Track Sankey- In bits- Gone to a new home M0XQS |

I did the Gwyn Lewis kits front and rear on my 110. Expensive but they'll pay for them selves in the long term by protecting the outrigger.
