So GLUB is our new 1989 Defender 90 (I'll update my profile in a moment), its a hard top (van back) but has rear bench seats. Chassis seems solid and suspension mounts all seem OK.
Body work is not too bad for a vehicle of its age, appears to have had a new rear cross member in the last few years. It needs some new lights fitting as the existing ones are a bit flakey (ordered and will fit later this week), it needs new tyres (seperate post for that). The bulk head looks solid, but has a few scabs on but nothing too deep, so should be able to tidy that up. One odd issue, the drivers door is a PITA to unlock using the key. If you hold in the button it increases the chances, but still does not always work. Opens fine from the inside. Any thoughts on this? Bit of backgound.... Always wanted a Defender, bit of an iconic classic car. Had Discoverys (3 & 4) for the last few years and they do go off road and to some play days, but SWMBO is not too keen on that, so the Defender will go instead (oh and its my Birthday!) |
