It's held on with poxy little clips that break when you try to remove it, thus ensuring that it can never be refitted.
Who needs a light in the socket anyway? |

Can’t seem to separate the green plastic & the metal components, seems virtually impossible to get the lighter socket out of the dash 2015 90 Hard Top

If it was me I'd very carefully cut it out, bin it and replace.
I'll have the same issue myself soon, don't think it's really an option to remove and replace damage free. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

This is depressing news, I've got a replacement lighter unit being delivered tomorrow.
Maybe the new removable bit will work in the existing socket, so I won't have to replace that. |

LR want you to buy a complete centre dash see for £260 or what ever they are now. Plus an arm and a leg of course.
They used to be around £120 as well. I'm guessing the Genguine lighter is £26 or so each as well. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

I’m trying to remove it to transfer it to my new DD dash but now thinking I might just install a double USB charging socket in the new dash instead 2015 90 Hard Top

I have managed in the past to remove the lighter with out damage but only on the ones as in photo two by the following means. Remove fuse for lighter, put a loop of wire over each of the prongs as can be seen in the photo and pulling gently on each wire in turn, the wires need to be crossed to pull them inwards. Once it starts to move out you may have to jjjjiggle it a bit and use either a trim removal tool of small screwdriver to ease it out. The metal part should ease out leaving the green outer in place , you will need nimble fingers to remove the bulb holder from the green outer which can the be slid out gently. Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |
