My understanding is the 5 th gear is higher for a V8.
The Ashcroft transmission site will probably have the info you need. |

Yes you’ll need to have the gearbox input shaft swapped for a V8 one (spigot bush diameter is different) or modified to suit.
Bellhousing bolt pattern means new bellhousing as above. Your best bet would be to find a Discovery V8 R380 and swap your Defender remote housing over with the adaptor that Ashcrofts now do. Or if having it rebuilt get a Defender selector rail put in instead. |
