1994 Defender 90 300 Tdi HT Arles Blue
Tub seal problems
As part of the refurb of my 1994 300 tdi 90 hardtop, I've taken the side panels off. Given that's it in pieces, I thought I'd put new seals in between the tub and hardtop . Probably the first mistake i made was to order seals before i took it apart. I ordered genuine LR seals, part number ALR 5056, which I'm told is what is listed for mine. However, when i took it apart, the old seals are totally different , they are much narrower and made from rubber, not foam. That in itself is not the problem. The problem is that the brand new genuine seals are an appalling fit. They don't sit right, the cut outs are slightly off and they juts aren't right, a complete waste of £50 ! The old seals fitted much better. Looking on line there seems to be several different part numbers for these seals, so i am now totally confused. Surely the tub and sides haven't changed over the years? Again looking on line i see that YRM sell seals which certainly look quite substantial, does anyone have any experience of using them at all? Again, any suggestions appreciated.
