2008 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 DCPU Java Black

Double cab load bed cover

Is anyone running a metal load bed cover on their 110 double cab? I have one in all black and the silver Ifor Williams standard farmer job is starting go look a bit worse for wear.
I saw one with a black load bed cover and swingaway wheel carrier yesterday and it really looked the business.
Unfortunately I was in my 2.5 na 90 at the time so couldn't catch the driver to ask him!
Only found one supplier and that was about 600 quid

Theres only one supplier, NJI Ali. It is a pricey bit of kit especially if you go for the lashing bars. Though worth the money, there isnt another flat locking top cover that retains the double cab look. Unless you make one but wouldnt be that easy.

I love mine, was quite easy to fit too. Currently working on a way to fit central locking to it

How waterproof is the NJI one? We bought one off eBay for the mrs double cab that a chap had had made but it is in no way waterproof

Its not bad! But no way 100%, tends to leak in heavy rain around the hinge area. Brrn meaning to add more sealant!

It is interesting how popular these solid pickup bed covers are for other marques, but not for the Defender. A number of years ago now the best I could manage at a reasonable cost was a tonneau cover akin to the Exmoor trim one here;

Although I got my local truck canvas siding company to make it. Worked a treat, but lacked the ability to stow on top of the cover.

Love that NJ-Alli hardtop cover

Cover Truck, out of Bordeaux, also do a version that looks very slick, although perhaps a little "light weight"...

Exactly! I spent weeks searching for them, NJI is the only one I found. No on else that usually makes them do them for LRs, I guess not popular enough.

I couldnt bring myself to buy the Exmoor one for £300 when it did nothing but keep things dry! Ended up making a cheap one for £30 while I waited till I could afford the NJI one.

Not perfect but kept things dry and out of sight for a few months
