Have an amazing time. I was there in Nov 16 but flew in and hired a 110 from ISAK. It was mind blowing!

Do you mind me asking how much the ferries cost, and who the company is, as would like to do the trip myself sometime in the future?

HAve a shufty here http://www.smyrilline.com/the-journey
when we did it, you could go from Aberdeen to Shetland, then from Shetland to Faores and through to Iceland. I think the routes have changed a bit which is why most people now drive up to Northern Denmark |

Thanks. We did it that route as well in the 80s in a 2CV. Suspension was never the same again! Would like to do it again in the 90. Will have a look at the website.

Yes to the first question we are traveling with Protrax, a good bunch, with 11 vehicles now that we are all together.
Just stopped today for a few hours on the Faroe Islands and then off again this afternoon to Iceland, getting there tomorrow afternoon Little ferry crossing in Denmark Click image to enlarge Leaving Denmark Click image to enlarge Arriving at the Faroe Islands Click image to enlarge |

Just pulled into a little roadside place for a bowl of the local lamb soup
Amazing place just spent the last three days with no tarmac in sight. Amazing country side, and volcanoes to see. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Would recommend this location to all, absolutely amazing but extremely cold at night...... sleeping bags & quilt. |

Happy for you (and a bit jealous too), enjoy it
Worst thing about Iceland is that you'll want to go back... . If I'm not mistaken this is just a bit up the road from the Hrauneyjar:: Click image to enlarge Daunting when you consider the vast emptiness that you will be travelling through... Have fun, Joris |

Just found a bit of WiFi so a little update......
Days are amazing and nights are freezing cold so anybody that fancies a trip like this, needs to tog up on the sleeping bag front. We popped into Reykjavik for a nose around the off road show that apparently only runs every ten years. Could really fancy this, apparently a set of these wheels and tyres come in at six grand....
