Hello isacs
I think you have done the right thing...although it looks like you have over tinted your No. Plate... A local body shop to me who specialises in VW's and Porsche's did a trial of the tined products before committing on some Porsche lenses (for a non standard race car with a new livery) they were impressed and whilst the livery was only planned for one season they said that they expected nothing but though they applied well...they also applied it inside the lens not outside, as they were not sealed units, so probably extending the life expectancy aswell. Anyway yours look good...just rethink that number plate... SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |
Yes, and the are obligatory lights required by law except the reversing light.
So laws do apply in a higher degree than say a light bar.
Well, not absolutly - if a light or lamp is fitted it must be functioning (ie over 50% functioning, so in the case of having 5 bulbs in a high level rear stop lamp, at least 3 must work), but if it is not fitted, a vehicle can not fail for not having it. A reversing light is not a mandatory required light or lamp, but as above, if one is fitted it must work. But of it comes with one from production, it can not be removed. TY&GN 10 years in a WOLF, WIMIK and Snatch and this is all I have to show! |

Are there not insurance implications from changing the lamp from OEM clear to aftermarket tinted, irrespective of E markings? So you'd have to tell them in either event if you did not want to risk falling foul of non-disclosure of material facts. They may take a different view to the two approaches but at least it would negate any issues if anything bad was to happen as you say. |
