BAS pilot E7 + intake air temperature sensor fault P0110-15
More fun in the Puma...

So I have a new BAS intercooler but I’d like to make sure the engine is good condition before installation, among other things I've managed to do the ‘High PSI Pump reset’ (this the VCV relearn yeah?) - but when trying to do the Pilot correction immediately after it’s reached temp and I hit ‘continue’ I get ’learning not completed - status 17’ and ‘operation failed E7’.

I’ve had this before, but the thing is this time I’ve made sure that the coolant was at 77deg before starting. The CHT was at 81deg if that matters, either way I cant get them both within the range.

What is possibly related is that I had a P0110-15 (2F) fault ‘intake air temperature sensor circuit general electrical failure - short circuit or open to battery’. Looking at live values I see ‘Intake Air Temperature’ at a steady -40Deg, yet ‘Intake Air Temperature Sensor 2’ is at 30.6deg, it’s not that hot in NZ at the moment but it’s much more accurate than -40Deg.

Question, where is this faulty sensor?? Is it the MAF or MAP (LR022164) ? (and what is the second? Do both the MAF and MAP give temperature also?)

Vehicle is running fine otherwise, but I suspect the ECU is just making do with less information in the meantime... (it's not throwing any dash lights though??)

Any help appreciated. Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

Ok, just to answer my own question..

The Intake Air Temperature (IAT) #1 is indeed in the MAF (#2 is Incorporated in the MAP).

Mine had a pin not connecting as the female receptacle had been pushed out of it's seating. Pushed back in I got air temp straight away. CHT and coolant temps then tracked much more closely and I could complete the pilot correction with great success, no more knocking at around 1900 rpm!

Very smooth. Thumbs Up

Saved myself 1~2hrs mechanics fees Thumbs Up Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...
