Ok, just to answer my own question..
The Intake Air Temperature (IAT) #1 is indeed in the MAF (#2 is Incorporated in the MAP).
Mine had a pin not connecting as the female receptacle had been pushed out of it's seating. Pushed back in I got air temp straight away. CHT and coolant temps then tracked much more closely and I could complete the pilot correction with great success, no more knocking at around 1900 rpm!
Very smooth.
Saved myself 1~2hrs mechanics fees Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...
