Main Earth straps need cleaning and tightening.
If on a Puma, the transfer box one is the most likely culprit. No Guts, No Glory.

Can you please explain more in detail please? I am not a mechanic and haven't had the car for long. It is a 2.2 Puma.

Sounds like the relay to me, check it's secure in the holder and potentially install the standard one back in to test the other wiring. It will flash fast but at least will rule out all other scenarios.
The hazards work on lock/unlock because that part is controlled by the alarm module not the relay 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Having said that if the hazard light switch has failed or become disconnected then it would could stop the indicators working (but potentially also stop hazard on lock) 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Check, clean and refit the main electrical Earth strap on the transfer box.
You'll easily see it. Also check the socket behind the hazard light switch is secure, otherwise that can cause you to lose indicators. Failing these try a new Relay. LED lighting is much more sensitive to voltage fluctuations and high resistance I.e. A poor earth. Good luck. I don't know on a puma, but when this happened on my td5 it was because the hazard switch had failed. For some reason the indicators need the hazard switch to work.... 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car)

Thanks for all your tips about this issue. All of them are much appreciated.
I will start by changing back to the old relay. If that doesn't work either I'll have a look at the hazard light switch and maybe try to fit a new one to make sure that's fine as well. Will keep you updated on this one... |

Same on the Puma, with the hazard light switch removed = no indicators. No Guts, No Glory.

custom90steve, my rover metro was the same, I think the hazard switch has some sort of bridge for the indicator system.
My money will be on the switch going, Best thing to do is remove it and give it a clean and refit. If it doesn't work then buy a genuine replacement one, don't go for a cheap pattern copy. I made that mistake with the 300 when I bought it, the switch ended up lasting 3 months if that! every time I selected left or right, all four would come on. One fella wound his window down and shouted that all fours were on. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

Hi guys, after having a second look to confirm all fuses are ok I started by changing back to the original relay. Luckily the indicators started flashing fast and therefore the culprit was the relay switch. I managed to buy a new one from the local dealer and all was back to normal.
Thanks once again for all your help! |

So is your indicator flash rate normal now? Glad all is sorted. No Guts, No Glory.

Yes I got a new relay for led lights. The one with the adjustment knob.
At least I avoided dismantling the dash to check the hazard switch. |
