If it makes any odds, I fitted my reverse camera inside where the tow hitch electrics go, if you don't tow it's a good spot! Gives a perfect view and avoids the spare entirely.

Click image to enlarge Mine is in the middle above the adjustable tow hitch. Camera working out fine. The mirror mounted screen and recording unit not so much. Had worked well for three months now freezing and glitching. It will get another reboot and see if it clears up. If not it is going back for a replacement. It was a cheap Amazon Chinese jobby so was proof of concept as much as anything that I could get a good reversing camera on a 300 TDi 110. I have been happy reversing by touch in previous Series Rovers but I felt I should get more responsible now there are small children living near me. 1995 Defender 110 CSW 1971 SIIA Lightweight |

I tried my cam under the plate light, found the view utterly useless, then moved it.

I've got mine under the number plate light too, it's fine with a wide angled camera, very discreet and out the way. It also gives a good view of the tow ball and anything else that might be first to hit anything your reversing to

Had mine under number plate light for well over a year, As I didn't want to drill the car. Ideally I think near the rear water wash? would be the best place.
Hook up to a trailer on my own, can get very very close to what ever is behind me. Find it very useful. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

I also have a question, do all aftermarket cameras have those lines displayed? Is it a configurable option? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I tried 3 cams all had lines which are "parking lines" cant remove them. Though you could use any camera in thrre as long as it works with your screen, may need some.wiring adjustment though.
Camera is an ebay special cost aboit £15 |

Ah ok, my OCD would struggle with that if the camera wasn't centrally mounted 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Hello
Mines wired I believe will work better that way? I've also changed the flip up screen for a 4.3" screen works great though and very handy |

I have been looking on Ebay and a lot of the screens have 2 connectors 1 x main 1 x aux. It seems you can have 2 camaras attatched and flip between the two. I presume this would be for front and rear camara views. Although in the case of the Defender with spare wheel cuasing sight problems you could mount 2. One above the rear door and one in the hole in the rear crossmember
Stacey007 I was going for the flip up version. Why did you change?? Also with the pictures of screens on the facia. Are these permanent fixtures?? |
