no fuses for the rear wiper system by the looks of it, I saw how much a replacement goes for £100!
I am going to get a mate to check the electrics 1st before I go down that route, took some digging to find a replacement too! a few second hand but I am not paying 30 quid on wards for a second hand switch, that could be knackered. When i first got my 110, the rear wiper would work a short while then stop mid sweep.
Was about to trace wiring when i noticed the previous owner had adjusted the spare tire carrier such that the wiper arm partially contacted the tire. It would sweep several times then get tired of fighting the tire and stall. Adjusted the top bolts stops on the genuine carrier to bring the top of the spare out 1/2" and all now good. Perhaps a long shot, but perhaps check there is no interference? Patrick |

I have been hearing a clicking noise, from the motor, and its warm. So something isn't right there, any one got any ideas? Chances are the motor is cooked. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Give the motor a strip down. Mine never worked, and the motor and gearbox were seized solid and rusty. Might just need a clean and grease!

Before you shell out on a new motor, check that the spare tyre isn't catching. Mine packed up mid sweep (after I had some new tyres fitted), and it was due to the spare catching. You may find the reason the wiper is getting warm is because it's trying to continue the sweep and park but unable to due to the tyre. I was lucky as I discovered it was the spare before the motor cooked itself.

I've had one fail where the magnet had detached from the casing, a bit of araldite and it was fine again. They're simple things so definitely worth stripping down and taking a look at. 1990 Defender 110 200TDI Camper - now converted to Td5 power
